Due to Edna's illness, only Julian and I made the summer trip out east to hang at Lake Paupac (more Paupac pics) and then spend a weekend in New York for Mischa and Jyothi's wedding (more NYC pics). We had a fun week at our cabin on the lake: hiking, playing golf and tennis, swimming, sailing, canoeing, fishing, exploring the lodge, cooking dinners, building legos, picking blueberries... although it was extremely exhausting. Since it was just Julian and I we cancelled our hotel and crashed with Dylan and Elisa in Brooklyn (thanks, guys!) which was much closer to the majority of the festivities. The wedding itself was in the Upper East Side (if memory serves) at a great venue. Amazing ceremony, interesting and fun people, scrumptious food, entertaining and hilarious speeches and lots of imbibing which continued at Dylan's bar, "Walter Foods", in Brooklyn. My good buddy Sean and his wife, Ildi, babysat Julian (thanks, guys!) which went pretty well except for my 2:30am return time (sorry, guys). As disappointed as I was that Joy and Nico could not be with us I was much more saddened by the news of Edna's passing earlier in the week. I am very thankful that Joy was able to see her during her last days and be around her wonderful family during this tough time. |
