My sister and her family got two chickens for Christmas this year. Ed was very sneaky in keeping the big secret from the kids including setting up the chickens and their coop on Christmas Eve. During the cold weather, they were kept on the front porch somewhat to my sister's dismay. However, as the snow melted and the weather warmed up they arrived at their permanent spot on the side of their house (somewhat to the dismay of the neighbors I imagine). Although they are not the cockle-doodle-doo type (those are males) but they still make funny chicken sounds and will provide about 7 eggs per week for some eatins. That's a lot of omelettes.
